Hope Arthur is a Chicago based classical pianist, accordion player, songwriter, and composer. She recently performed classical accordion for The Nutcracker (Lyric Opera of Chicago and Joffrey Ballet). Other Chicago credits include accordion player and co-musical director in Mucca Pazza, founder and band leader of Dirndolls and her solo avant garde project, Serepta. She most recently collaborated with the Northwestern University Contemporary Music Ensemble, served as assistant conductor for Mary Zimmerman’s The Matchbox Magic Flute at The Goodman Theater and performed in the US premiere of the Danish opera, “Murder on the Titanic,” by Matias Vestergaard.

The First Time is a live lit and music series recorded at Martyrs’ in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood. Each reader tells a true first tale, followed by a cover of the storyteller’s choosing, performed by our house band: The First Time Three.
