Direct Stream Links

Plug one of these URLs into VLC, iTunes, Music.app, Winamp, Sonos, your car stereo's internet radio feature, or any other standalone player that accepts a stream URL.

QualityURL

Standard (128 kbps)

https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live

Low bandwidth (64 kbps)

https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live-64kb

If your player asks for a playlist file instead of a direct stream:

FormatURL

M3U (standard)

https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live.m3u

M3U (low bandwidth)

https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live-64kb.m3u

XSPF (older option)

https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live.xspf

Setting Up VLC

  1. Open VLC
  2. File → Open Network (Mac) or Media → Open Network Stream (Windows)
  3. Paste https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live
  4. Click Open or Play

Setting up iTunes / Music.app (Mac)

  1. Open Music.app
  2. File → Open Stream URL (or ⌘+U)
  3. Paste https://peridot.streamguys1.com:5185/live
  4. Click OK

Setting up a car stereo with internet radio

Look in your stereo's settings for "Add internet radio station" or "Custom URL." Paste the standard URL from the table above. Some older car stereos require the .m3u URL instead — try that if the direct stream doesn't connect.

Having Trouble?

If a stream URL you used to use no longer works, the underlying broadcast is unchanged — it's almost always because newer operating systems and browsers have stopped supporting some older formats automatically. A few common fixes:

  • The .m3u URL won't open in a player anymore. Try the direct stream URL (without .m3u) instead.
  • http:// URL won't connect. Use the https:// version above. Many modern operating systems block plain http:// audio streams.
  • Your network blocks the connection. Some workplace and coffee-shop Wi-Fi blocks non-standard ports (5180, 5185). Try a different network, your phone's mobile data, or the website/mobile app instead.
