However, the online world has changed drastically since 2012, and we’re more than past due for a remodel. Here are some of the ways our new website and mobile apps will help us keep up with the times.

In 2012: The CHIRP mobile apps let you listen to our digital stream on-the-go…and not much else.

Now: In addition to adding many oft-requested features, our mobile apps will no longer be separate from our website’s back-end. Users will finally be able to access their saved songs and other account information across platforms!

In 2012: We fostered a fledgling local music community online with our blog, which allowed for forum-like discussions.

Now: While our blog is still going strong, community engagement has migrated to other platforms, such as social media and in-person events. The new site will optimize our blog and event listings with a visual-first, mobile-friendly design that feels more modern.

In 2012: CHIRP had not yet launched our broadcast on 107.1 FM, and we weren’t on the air 24/7 like we are today.

Now: We have a constantly evolving roster of real live DJs who are on the air nearly ‘round the clock. Our new website will make it easier to follow your favorite DJs, view their playlists, and listen to archives of their recent shows from any platform.

In 2012: Want to listen in the car? Good luck.

Now: Driving outside the broadcast range? Listen to CHIRP wherever you're on the road with an improved Apple CarPlay experience and the addition of Android Auto!

These are just a few reasons why we’re rebuilding our website and mobile apps for the first time in nearly a decade and a half. This redesign reflects who we are today: creative, community‑driven, and proudly Chicago.

Stay tuned for the launch on May 15th!
